Welcome back gorgeous babes! I am so excited to be back after a week of taking a break from blogging! I once read the quote, “If you get tired, learn to rest not to quit”. I saw that when I first started blogging and always stuck with me! It can get overwhelming to keep up with social media but nothing like a good rest to get you energized and ready to create amazing content!
With that being said, I want to introduce a new series I will be doing over the next couple of weeks!! With wedding season and our 2 year anniversary around the corner I was really inspired to give my tips for engagement photo’s, wedding planning, wedding day details, and etc. I get some wedding related questions around this time a year by friends and family and I thought some of the brides following me would appreciate my advice!
The first and very most important thing you need to book for your wedding are photographers! Everyone knows this but not all understand the difference and or need for a GREAT photographer! Choosing a good photographer will make a huge difference in how you remember your big day! For our engagement and wedding photo’s we had the amazing husband and wife duo, Koman Photography! If you haven’t heard of them you need to look up their Instagram and website RIGHT now (@thekomans or www.komanphotography.com)!! They are truly the best at what they do and will give you the most beautiful timeless pictures! They use natural soft light that gives the most beautiful romantic feel!
Once you have your photographers you will want to plan out the location and clothes you will be wearing for the shoot! For our shoot I wanted a pretty field with some greenery so we could do a picnic type setting. We actually had two engagement shoots (the first were pictures we took after Victor proposed) and they were both shot in Malibu! Make sure to do some research and talk to your photographers on what they recommend because they should have a few locations in mind. Make sure the location and theme you choose reflect both you and your groom!
Another key part in your engagement shoot is your outfits and how you coordinate them! I recommend light soft colors as did my photographers!! It brightens up the pictures and doesn’t drag too much attention. I decided to wear a white dainty lace dress, I bought it from Nordstrom and absolutely love it (I will link similar dresses below)! My fiance at the time and now hubby wore tan slim fit pants, a navy button up shirt, and brown boots! I loved the subtile pop of color the navy shirt gave, it didn’t take too much attention but added a little color.
Now for the star of the show, this gorgeous white flower crown! I love how feminine and darling it makes the photo’s look! It was really my only accessory for the shoot besides my engagement ring. I can’t remember the shop that made it for me but I just showed her some ideas I found off of Pinterest and told her the flowers I would like on it! I would highly recommend a flower crown for your engagement session (you don’t even need to wear it the entire time).
Another key factor in your engagement session are the props you use! My amazing mother in law took care of all the props and decor for me so I didn’t have to worry about it! I told her what I wanted and she did everything she could to make my vision become a reality. Since we did a picnic type setting we brought a pretty crochet blanket, a picnic basket, a pretty pitcher, cups, tray, and tables! We were going for a super elegant and romantic feel so we added some light pink and white blooms around as well! She was also able to find gorgeous vintage phones, I ended up using the gold phone as decor on my wedding day as well.
My last piece of advice would be to have fun and enjoy shooting with your hubby to be! Don’t be stressed or try to hard in the photo’s because that will show!! Be natural and just be sweet with each other. These are moments and memories you will remember and frame in your house for many years!! I hope you enjoyed the first post of my wedding series and would love feedback or suggestions on my next post! These wedding related posts will be posted on #weddingwednesdays and I haven’t decided if I’ll do them every week or every other week! I will link our outfits down below.
