Happy #weddingwednesday to you all!! I back with another wedding related post for you all! I’ve really enjoyed doing these posts the last couple of months and next week this series will end! Next week is mine and my husbands 2 year anniversary so I will be posting our wedding video on the blog!
This week is all about wedding receptions!! I put a lot of thought into this time because I knew my guests would be here longer then my ceremony! I stuck with white but added blush and gold accents to the decor.
Wedding cake… This is a big part of the reception and I clearly took it very seriously!! Honestly, I’m not a big fan of cake, I did do taste testing and actually chose a different type of cake for each tier. I can’t even tell you what i chose because I didn’t even get a piece of cake at my wedding! Note: You will NOT get a piece of cake at your wedding! The only bite I had was during the cake cutting photo’s!!
Our wedding cake was chosen for our guests to enjoy and to accent all the other decor I had out for the reception!
One of the most stressful parts of wedding planning for me was the reception! I am such a perfectionist and wanted everything to be perfect, except that doesn’t exist! We actually even had problems the day of with our reception area not being on even grass so our center pieces didn’t wan to stay up! I’m mentioning this to remind you that the show does GO ON! Don’t focus on the minor details because everything will end up being okay in the end!
I have used Pinterest for YEARS (and I still am so follow me at @blusheddarling)! I always wanted a pretty chiffon tented wedding reception with chandeliers hanging from the top! I was so happy whe
n we were able to accomplish this because it looked perfect on the lawn of the mansion! All the white between the gorgeous green tree’s made for the perfect setting!
Some advice I have for planning out your reception is pay attention to details! Something as simple as a table cloth would make the biggest difference among everything else! I added a gold sequence table clothe to our sweetheart table and cake table! This really incorporated those pops of gold along with the chiavari chairs!
Chairs, it probably sounds so weird that I actually put thought
into them. But these were also something I pinned in my Pinterest board way back when! I ALWAYS wanted gold chiavari chairs and believe it or not they make such a big different in decor!
Make sure you have fun and enjoy your reception! This is totally a time to connect and interact with your guests!! For favors I really wanted to do something a little more unique than a box of chocolates! Like I said before, pay attention to details because your favor will also add to you
r reception decor. I decided to give out “test tubes” filled with dried rose buds and bath salts! We attached a tag (that we made at home with a cricket) that had our names and wedding date on it!
For our reception, having a schedule helped a lot!! We gave our speeches and timeline to our wedding coordinator as well as our MC! We had a DJ but had a family member do announcements because we wanted it to be someone our guests knew and understood us!
Speeches were SO important to me so we made sure we chose the right people to speak at our wedding!
We finished off the night with a slide show and sparkler exit!! It was the perfect way to end our special day!! P.S. Totally recommend both of these! I know many people don’t do slideshows anymore but it really make people’s faces light up when they see themselves included in the photo’s or remembering certain memories alongside you and your groom!
See you next week!!
